1. Geo-ELFS RESEARCH LINES

Our research deals with physical modelling of geophysical and environmental flows. Areas of particular interest are: Volcanic flows from magma chambers through conduits to the Earth's surface. Numerical modelling of volcanic ash dispersal. Lava flow emplacement. Transport processes of gases in the atmosphere.

3. Geo-ELFS MODELS AND CODES

The codes below have been developed by our research group. They are freely distributed for non-commercial use only and without any warranty. Please contact us if you have problems during installation or execution or if you find any bug.

• MODELS FOR TEPHRA TRANSPORT AND FALLOUT
  • HAZMAP A code based on an analytical solution of the advection-diffusion-sedimentation equation.
  • FALL3D A code for the full 3D time-dependent advection-diffusion-sedimentation equation.
  • APOLLO A platform-independent procedure designed to facilitate the execution and subsequent interpretation of volcanic ash transport and fallout models.
• MODELS FOR CONDUIT FLOW
  • CPIUC A code to estimate the temporal evolution of the main eruptive parameters during an explosive eruption.
• MODELS FOR LAVA FLOWS
  • SWELAVA A code for lava flow propagation based on depth-averaged equations solved by means of CLAWPACK routines.
• MODELS FOR GAS DISPERSION
  • TWODEE-2 A code for dispersion of heavy gases.
  • DISGAS A code for gas dispersion in passive regime.
