1. Geo-ELFS RESEARCH LINES

Our research deals with physical modelling of geophysical and environmental flows. Areas of particular interest are:

Computational modelling of tephra dispersal;
Numerical models of transport of gases in the atmosphere;
Volcanic flows from magma chambers through conduits to the Earth's surface;
Lava flow emplacement.

2. Geo-ELFS MODELS AND CODES

The codes below have been developed by our research group. They are freely distributed for non-commercial use only and without any warranty. Please contact us if you have problems during installation or execution or if you find any bug.

MODELS FOR TEPHRA TRANSPORT AND FALLOUT
- FALL3D A code for the full 3D time-dependent advection-diffusion-sedimentation equation.
- HAZMAP A code based on an analytical solution of the advection-diffusion-sedimentation equation.
- PARFIT A tool for the parametrization of volcanic ash deposits.
MODELS FOR ERUPTIVE PLUMES
- FPLUME An integral volcanic plume model.
MODELS FOR GAS DISPERSION
- TWODEE-2 A code for dispersion of heavy gases.
- DISGAS A code for gas dispersion in passive regime.
MODELS FOR CONDUIT FLOW
- CPIUC A code to estimate the temporal evolution of the main eruptive parameters during an explosive eruption.
MODELS FOR LAVA FLOWS
- SWELAVA A code for lava flow propagation based on depth-averaged equations solved by means of CLAWPACK routines.
